Full-Time Teacher Leaders
Larry CarlsonLarry is an Instructional Coach at the Middle School/High School and the Secondary Curriculum and Professional Development Leader. He also supports 6th grade at Norway Intermediate. Larry has been a middle school math teacher in the Benton Community School District for the past 22 years. Coaching high school boys basketball, middle school football, and attending a variety of other events keeps Larry busy after the school day ends. Larry is looking forward to partnering with staff to maintain a strong commitment to education and explore new teaching practices.

Kayla HahnKayla is an Instructional Coach at Atkins Elementary, which is a PK-3rd grade building at Benton Community. She also supports 4th grade at Norway Intermediate. Previously, she was a classroom teacher and interventionist. When asked about why she chooses to be a teacher leader, Kayla shared, "I choose to be a Teacher Leader to bridge the gap between general classroom settings and specialized classroom settings (intervention, sped, etc.). I want to be more involved with, and knowledgeable about, ALL of a child's educational journey."

Emily O'ConnellEmily is an Instructional Coach at the Middle School/High School. She also supports special education, intervention, and specials teachers at Norway Intermediate. She has experience in teaching social studies, special education, and supporting intervention. Emily's belief in collective teacher efficacy is strong and it is making a positive impact within her data team. "I love the collaboration piece within CL/DT. I believe our different perspectives, strengths, and experiences helps meet the needs of all of our students."
When asked why she continues to choose Benton, Emily said, "Benton was my first job, but I choose to stay at Benton because of the friendships I have made with colleagues, the relationships I have created with students, and the opportunities Benton has given me." |
Kim FisherKim is an Instructional Coach and Elementary Curriculum and Professional Development Leader. Kim has been a Bobcat forever. She started her journey as a student at BC, but joined our teaching family 15 years ago. Kim credits her background of teaching Special Education and Reading Recovery for her passion in making learning personalized and intentional. Kim loves to share student journeys via her social media platforms. Kim supports Keystone Elementary. She also supports 5th grade at Norway Intermediate.
